Egg-citing Egg Hunt

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring Break!  I wanted to share some pictures of my cute little bunnies from their Egg Hunt that we had on the last day before Spring Break!  We had so much fun, thank you to everyone for sending in eggs and treats to help make this day such a fun and special day for our students!  Y'all are truly the best, and I couldn't have done it without y'all!
 Eggs were EVERYWHERE!!!
 Ready, Set, Go!!!
Hunting for every last egg out there!

No egg was left behind by my Little Egg-Hunters!
Very happy to have her bag all full with treats!
The boy's bags had little bowties
And the girls' bags had bows!
After the big hunt, we enjoyed some very yummy cupcakes and ice cream!!!  There is probably no better way to start spring break then with cupcakes and ice cream!
Everyone seemed to really enjoy the day!
 ...and the yummy treats!
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Spring Break!  I can't wait to hear all about everyone's exciting breaks when we get back next week!

Arboretum Field Trip

We had the BEST time on our field trip to the Arboretum last Thursday!  We got extremely lucky and had the most gorgeous weather so we could truly enjoy everything the Arboretum has to offer!
We started off learning all about different types of animals shelters and how to bird watch!  Our awesome tour guild told us that the Arboretum has more types of trees then all of Europe!  I think it's pretty amazing that we have more of a variety of trees in our little town then an entire continent!
We learned about different types of birds and the sounds they make so when we went bird watching we could listen for their calls and know where to look to find the birds on our search guide!
Before going off on our bird watching experience we pretended like we were each type of bird we would be looking for and I am so proud of how well my little birdies listened because they were able to find each bird we learned about!!!
 Starting our bird watching adventure!
The Arboretum provided each of my bird watchers with binoculars and a bird identification page to help with their bird watching!
I just love my little bird watchers!
Looking for birds in their natural habitats!
We are so lucky to live in a place that has such an amazing outdoor learning experience like the Arboretum!
I love the excitement in their faces when they found a bird on their bird watching list!
Our amazing tour guide explaining what a wasp nest looks like after all the baby wasps have left and flow away!
After bird watching for a while, we went inside to the classroom/caged animals exhibit part of our tour!
Everyone loved learning all about animals that we see all over Asheville!
I am so proud of all the great questions everyone had for our tour guide!
Then it was time for lunch in the beautiful sunny weather!  After lunch we went on own unguided hike all through The Arboretum's Awesome trails!
Heading out in to nature with my sweet little hikers!
We ended up doing about a mile and a quarter hike and everyone rocked out and did awesome keeping up and exploring nature together as a class!
We truly had an amazing time, thank you so much to everyone for helping make this field trip possible for us to attend, it was absolutely amazing!  We made memories we will never forget!

Worth More Than Gold...

Since tomorrow is Saint Patrick's Day and we will be on a field trip, we have been learning all about Ireland and how their culture celebrates this fun Holiday for the past week!  We worked on a lot of comparing and contrasting Non Fiction books about the country of Ireland with fun Fiction books about Leprechauns and Pots of Gold!  On Tuesday we did a really cute writing activity where the students wrote about someone that is worth more than gold to them!  I loved seeing how thoughtful and caring my students were when trying to decide who they were going to write about!
Family and Mommys were important to these two students!
Communities and Moms were important to these sweet students!
Mommys and brothers were a big hit for these students!
These two students valued their Grandpa and Friend!

I hope everyone is having a great week!  It looks like our weather for tomorrow's field trip is going to be beautiful!  Please remember to put sunscreen on your students BEFORE they come to school and not to send in with them in their backpacks!  Also, we will be walking a lot so please make sure they have comfortable shoes  and clothing on for hiking!  Also, if you are planning to join us, please remember we are only allowed to bring two cars per class so you will need to arrange car pooling with other parents attending!  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me!  Have a great day!
