Jackets and Coats

It's that time of year again, time to bundle up in our winter jackets and coats to keep warm against the chilly temperatures outside!  The weather kept us from our fieldtrip today, but we were able to sneak outside for recess for a little bit before Jack Frost chased us back in to the classroom!  Hope everyone is staying warm, have a great week!

FIELD TRIP RESCHEDULED

Unfortunately due to the weather our field trip to the pumpkin patch has been rescheduled to NEXT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9th!!!  Everything will go on just like it was suppose to today next Friday, so if you were planning to come with us, we will see you there next Friday!  Hopefully the weather will be much better then!  Have a great week!

Field Trip

DONT FORGET our Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch is MONDAY!!!!  Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes or boots that they will be able to run around and play in.  The weather for Monday looks like we could have a chance of rain and it will be very chilly...the high is only 56 degrees, so please dress your students appropriately for the weather!!!

Spiders and Beginning Sounds

Today we finished up our little creepy crawlers and I think they turned out AWESOME!

We also played a phonemic awareness game that helped the students work on figuring out beginning sounds to new words.  They did a great job with working in small groups and helping each other on words that were a little difficult for their friends!

New Planner

Today we started our planner on Citizenship.  We talked about what we thought it meant and what we wanted to learn about it!  Then we watched a short movie about it at the end of the day after we went to the honey money cart!  Also, we worked on our spiders today!  I'll have pictures up on it tomorrow, hopefully!  Please continue to work with your students on writing their names with the letters facing the correct way.  Thanks, hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!

Laptop Cart

Today we had so much fun using our school's laptop cart to explore starfall.com.  This website helps with letter identification, letter sounds, as well as reading!  The students did AWESOME, and I am so proud of them!  They did so well that I signed us up to use them again next week!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Candy Corn

Today we used Candy Corn to help us in math.  First we looked at a full bag and guessed if it was more than or less than 100 pieces of candy.  The majority of the class said more than.  After we made our guess, we then used them as counters to help us solve some math problems.

Finally we got to taste test them and make a graph of who liked Candy Corn and who does not.  Surprise, surprise....Liking Candy Corn won!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins

We've been studying a lot about pumpkins to get ready for our big Field Trip at the end of this month!  If you haven't done so already, please make sure to send in the money for it ASAP!  Thanks!!!

Today we read "The Biggest Pumpkin Ever" by Steven Kroll then made a Venn Diagram comparing the two different mice in the book and how they grew their pumpkins!  The kids loved it!

More Apples

After reading Amelia Bedelia's First Apple Pie we had a mini taste test on green apples versus red apples.

The Green Apples were the favorite.

We had a lot of fun tasting our apples.
