Gingerbread Houses and Storytelling

We had so much fun making our Gingerbread Houses last Wednesday after our December Holiday Lunch!
Look at all these Happy Faces!
We also made some adorable Snowman Ornaments to take home to our Families!
I hope you enjoy these little handmade with love ornaments for your Christmas trees!
Happy smiles during such a fun month at School!
Showing off her sweet baby during developmental centers!
We were so lucky to have Mrs. Morris' Second Graders come to our classroom to preform "The Grinch"!  I am so proud of some of my past kindergarten students who did an amazing job in the performance for our class!
On Friday we also enjoyed a full day of storytelling by some of the best Storytellers Asheville has to offer (Including our past Claxton Principal, Mrs. Kim Dechant)!
Wishing everyone the Happiest of Holidays from Miss Jones' Kindergarten Class!

Hour of Code Week and Gingerbread Stories

This week is National Hour of Code week in the United States and we are so lucky to have such an amazing Digital Lead Teacher, Mrs. Eggett, to help support us in using coding in our classrooms, even in Kindergarten!
We had two amazing 5th Grade Leaders help guide us through coding and using Dash the Robot!
We also learned how to write our own codes!
We look forward to more lessons with Mrs. Eggett on coding and using Dash the Robot!
This week we started reading all about all kinds of different Gingerbread stories.  So far, we have read, "The Gingerbread Man" "The Gingerbread Baby" "The Gingerbread Cowboy" and "The Ninjabread Man."  We have really LOVED reading each of the Gingerbread stories and can't wait to continue next week with the finale being making Gingerbread Houses after our Holiday meal next Wednesday!
Since we have been working on Opinion Writing, I had my amazing writers write about what type of Gingerbread Cookie they would be if they could be any type of Gingerbread Cookie.  I LOVED their creative ideas and adorable illustrations!
To go along with our adorable writing assignments we also made pretty cute Gingerbread boys and girls to hang with our stoires!  I think they are pretty amazing!
Also, just a reminder TOMORROW is our field trip to Asheville Community Theater to see their performance of "Holidays Around the World"!  We are very excited!
