Just a Reminder...

Don't forget tonight is Claxton's annual Back to School Ice Cream Social from 5:30 - 7:00!!!  I hope to see everyone there to enjoy yummy ice cream and fun face painting out on the bottom playgound!

Also, I just wanted to let you know I accidentally made a typo on the Specialist Schedule I sent home on Monday.  I was trying to get it finished late Sunday night so I got two of our days a little confused!  Our actual schedule is
Monday - Computer Lab
Tuesday - Art
Wednesday - Music
Thursday - Media/Spanish
Friday - PE
It's not a huge change, I just had our Music Day and our Media/Spanish Day switched up!  I apologize for the mix-up!!!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!  See y'all tonight!!!

We are Bucket Fillers

Yesterday we read "Have you Filled a Bucket Today?" by Carol McCloud.  The book explains that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our good thoughts and good feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when our buckets are empty, we are sad.  You fill a bucket when you show love to someone, when you smile, make someone feel special or do something kind. That’s being a bucket filler. A bucket filler is someone who says or does nice things to other people. Bucket fillers are those who help without being asked or give hugs and compliments. By filling other people's buckets, we fill our own bucket too!
This is a song that goes along with the book that we read.  I found the cute little song on YouTube and the Kids loved it!  After reading about being a bucket filler we wrote about how we could be bucket fillers in our classroom.  All of my wonderful bucket fillers did awesome on this activity!

Intoducing...Miss Jones' 2014-2015 Kindergarten Class

Miss Jones' 2014-2015 Kindergarteners!
I am so excited about this amazing group of Kindergarteners!  I just know we are going to have an amazing year!
Last week when everyone came for a day of staggered entry I did a read aloud with the book "The Crayon Box That Talked" by Shane DeRolf to talk about how we are all different but that it takes all of us to make up our classroom and how each one of us is important to make our picture complete!  The kids did an awesome job making connections to real life situations with this book!  We did an activity where the students colored their own crayon to be a part of our classroom crayon box!  It turned out AWESOME!
 Our new classroom bulletin board
Also, keep an eye out for a special little project we made today!  I will be sending them home tomorrow (Tuesday) because some of them were still a little wet at the end of the day today!

I hope everyone had as much fun today as I did!  I can't wait to see everyone's smiling faces back at school tomorrow!  Happy First Day of School!!!
