We had one of the most amazing days today on our field trip! Aiden came to school all decked out and ready to head to the Fire and Police Stations!
Asheville Fire Dept. Chief better watch out because someone is ready to take over!
These excited kiddos are ready to check things out inside the fire and police departments!
Learning all about the different types of trucks and what they carry on them in case of emergencies!
Watching a Fireman suit up in his full fire fighting gear!
We learned if you are ever in a fire and see someone looking like this, they are there to help you and to not be scared!
Then we got to try on the heavy equipment that these amazing men and women wear every day to help keep us safe in case of fires!
After trying on their safety gear we then got to go inside the fire truck and sit where the Firefighters sit on their way to fires!
Some very happy firefighters-in-training!
More Firefighters-in-training
Making sure everything on the Fire Truck is right where it needs to be!
My little Firefighters had so much fun at the Fire Station!
Then we went next door to the Police Department
We learned all about bookings and where they keep evidence! We also had a super special treat and learned how the Police Department take finger prints off of things for evidence when investigating important cases!
Learning all about our fingerprints and how they are different from each others, unless you have an identical twin brother or sister!
Then we got to watch her take a hand print the exact same way she would if she was trying to find some evidence in an important case!
Dusting off the print
Then securing and recording the print that will last for 100 years!
The final product, Amayei's hand print that will be read-able for 100 years!
Then we all got to do our fingerprints on the back of her truck to see how different all our finger prints were from each other!
We truly had so much fun today and I cannot say thank you enough to the wonderful community helpers at the Asheville Fire and Police Departments! They truly care for our students and go out of their ways to help educate them on the importance of their jobs! Thank you so much, we had a blast today!
Great photos! Thank you for posting. We enjoyed meeting you Miss Jones, and having lunch at school with Oscar. We were so impressed with the creativity on display everywhere. You have a large class and we were impressed with how you managed them. The kids need constant feedback at this age. I used to teach in public school, and always felt that kindergarten teachers should all be sainted. After watching you in action, my opinion on that has not changed.
ReplyDeletePS. I recently received a thank you for the Fun Run, but the link to the pictures was missing. Where would I find that link?
ReplyDeleteI am not 100% sure about the pictures from the PTO, but I posted the ones I took from that day on an earlier blog post! Thank you so much for the kind words, it was equally as great meeting y'all! Thank you for coming in and for also making Oscar feel so special on a daily basis!
