We have really had so much fun this week working with Dr. Seuss books! Today we made a graph of which Dr. Seuss book was the students' favorite. They had a great time trying to remember the different books and figure out which one was their favorite! They did such an awesome job retelling each other what the different stories were about and helping each other remember parts of the books!
The Lorax ended up winning as their favorite book from the week but it was followed close behind by Horton Hatches the Egg! We also were visited today by a wonderful Storyteller, named Lyn Ford, who is the main speaker this Saturday at the Garner Storytelling Festival!
It was such a special treat for the students to listen to her stories today! It was the perfect way to end such a fun week celebrating Dr. Seuss and all of his storytelling!

Oh, the Places Miss Jones' Class Will Go!
Wednesday
we worked with one of my absolute favorites of all Dr. Seuss' books,
"Oh, The Places You'll Go! The kids loved the bright pictures! My
first year teaching I started a classroom book themed off of this book
called, "Oh, The Places Miss Jones' Class Will Go" and every year each
class adds to the book! The students picked great places they would
like to go, but most of them said they would like to go to Disney
World!!! I would have to agree with them, I would love to go to Disney
too!!
This is the cover of our Class Book!
The Park to play!
Disney World
Ride a motorcycle in a race!!!
Go inside a video game!
Lego Land to build legos!
I loved how creative the students were when thinking of places they want to go! They are really enjoying Dr. Seuss!

Horton Hatches the Egg
Tuesday we read Horton Hatches the Egg as part of our book study on Dr. Seuss Books this week. The kids loved talking about ways they could help others just like the way Horton helped Lazy Mazy hatch an egg!
Today we are reading "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" and writing about somewhere we would like to go one day! These always turn out really great so I can't wait to show them to you tomorrow! Have a great Wednesday!

Dr. Seuss' Birthday
In writing today we wrote about how we could help save the trees, just like the Lorax was trying to do in the story! The students loved making their own little Loraxes to go on the top of the writing page! Tomorrow we are going to read Horton Hatches an Egg!

Valentine's Day and Snow Make-Up Days
We had a blast on Monday celebrating a late Valentine's Day! The student's did an awesome job decorating their Valentine's Day boxes!
As of right now, the only make-up day for last weeks snow days is changing the early release on March 7th to a full school day! I will let you know if there is any other information about this! Fingers crossed for no more snow days!

100th Day of School
We had so much fun on the 100th Day of School! We made 100th Day of school necklaces and hats as well as did a lot of math and literacy work using the number 100!
We read 3 books about The 100th Day of School and the kids really enjoyed them! We read "Happy 100th Day!" by Susan Milord, "Fancy Nancy, The 100th Day of School" by Jane O'Connor, and "One Hundred Hungry Ants" by Elinor J. Pinczes.
This student made sure to let me know he drew himself very close to the T.V because older people can't see very well anymore!
Listening to a book about the 100th Day of School |
We did some writing about having One Hundred Dollars! It was so funny to see what the kids said they would buy! A few of those things included remote control cars, remote control rockets, houses, beautiful dresses, cats, dogs, cakes, Ipads, Iphones, and skateboards with helmets and pads! I always love hearing what their creative little minds come up with!
Then I let them draw a picture of what they think they are going to look like when they are 100 years old! Almost all of them gave themselves walking canes, glasses, gray hair, and a few of the girls gave themselves Grandchildren and Grandbabies! This student made sure to let me know he drew himself very close to the T.V because older people can't see very well anymore!
We had such a fun day and I am very thankful to have been able to teach my sweet angels for the past 100 days! It's looking like our Field Trip will be rescheduled once again due to the weather so as soon as we know what day it is rescheduled to I will let you know! Snow, Snow, go away!!! Everyone stay safe and warm and I'll see you soon, hopefully!
