Aaaarrgghh! Spider!!!!

Last week we read a funny little book called "Aaaarrgghh!  Spider!" by Lydia Monks about a little boy that is trying to decide if a spider would make a good pet.  We had so much fun talking about why a spider would/would not make a good pet!  We graphed our opinions and then wrote our reasons why along with making the most adorable creepy crawlers craft, ever!
Sorry, Parents...there are a few of our little writers that would like to have a spider for a pet!
Our Venn Diagram of why a Spider would make a good pet from reasons from the book.
 Putting our creepy crawlers together!
Our new bulletin board is beyond adorable and I am so proud of my little writers and all their hard work with this assignment!

Asheville Fire Dept. Smokehouse

Thank you so much to the Asheville Fire Department for bringing their Smokehouse to help educate our students on what they should do if there was a fire in their homes!  We really had a great time learning about having a meeting place and staying low to crawl under the smoke to get out.
 The Smokehouse

Learning about calling 911 only if there is an emergency!
The official "Meeting Place" for us for the day!

We are getting very excited about our upcoming field trip to the Fire Department and Police Department at the end of this month!

Skytop Apple Orchards

We had an absolute blast on our field trip today to Skytop Apple Orchards!
Here are a few pictures from our fun day in the Apple Orchards!
Heading to Flat Rock on the bus!

  Playing on the Playground

After playing on their huge playgound we headed over to the classroom area to find out all about apples and how they grow!

Then we headed out in to the orchards to pick apples!!!

We were having so much fun in the Apple Orchards, some of us got a little tired!
Checking out the ducks in the animal area!

A little more playing before we had to head back home!
We really had the most fun and the best day, ever today!!!  I am so thankful for my sweet students and all the truly AMAZING parents that joined us on our fun day!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!
