We started the week with one of his most famous books!
After reading "The Cat in the Hat" we made our very own cat-in-the-hat Hats! This worked out perfect for storybook character day!
We also did directed drawings of The Cat-in-the-Hat! This checks students listening skills as well as their shape skills! I must say, they turned out AMAZING!

After the "Cat-in-the-Hat" we moved on to "Horton Hatches the Egg." I love this book because it talks about the importance of being nice to others and being a good friend!
We used the writing prompt, "I feel good when I help..."
I love how thoughtful and sweet my little lovebugs were when deciding what they do to help others that also makes them feel good!
After finishing up with Horton, we moved on to, "Oh, the Places You'll Go"
This was also a fun book to write about. We decided to write about somewhere we would like to visit and then I added our pages to a class book I have been making since my first year teaching!
We have some wonderful places our friends would like to visit one day!
These turned out beautiful and were great additions to our class book, "Oh the Places Miss Jones' Class Will Go"!
After finishing up with the exciting places we would like to visit, we moved on to "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and had some fun with colored Goldfish! We sorted, counted, and graphed our colored Goldfish then ate them for a yummy snack!
This was definitely a fun math activity integrating one of Dr. Seuss' most well known books!
We also did an amazing bulletinboard using "The Lorax" as our writing prompt. We wrote about how we would help save the Earth if we were the Lorax!

For a yummy treat to complete the day we used "Green Eggs and Ham" or otherwise known as pretzels with white chocolate and a green m&m

To complete the week we graphed our favorite book from the week, and the top winner was...The Lorax!
In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday and National Read Across America Day our school participated in Storybook Character Day
This adorable duo of Holden and his Mom dressed up as "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"!
Angelina Ballerina was also a huge hit for storybook character day!
We had so much fun celebrating such an amazing author on his 112th Birthday! I hope everyone has a wonderful week, because I know we always have a great time in room 150!
