Fall Leaves and Thankful Turkeys

Friday we read a very cute story called, "The Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves" and then began working on an amazing project using real fall leaves from our playground!

 My little Leaf Collectors had so much fun finding the most beautiful and perfect leaves!

 

 

 Even though it was chilly, they really LOVED hunting for the most perfect leaves for our project!

They turned out absolutely GORGEOUS!!!  Our classroom looks like we have stained glass windows!  

We have also been talking about Thanksgiving and who/what we are thankful for!  I must say, my little Turkeys are very thoughtful and are very thankful for everything they have in their lives!  I feel so blessed to have each and everyone of them in my class!

 To go along with our thankful feathers, we have our Turkey Ten Frames, which turned out amazing!  I am also very thankful for how smart my little Turkeys are this year!!!

 I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  I can't wait to see my amazing little Turkeys tomorrow, I am truly blessed with all of them!!!  I wish for everyone a beautiful and thankful week!

TAPAS and Fun Run Slime Assembly

Today was our first day with the talented Holly de Saillan, from the Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools (TAPAS) organization.  

 Holly was an amazing presenter, who really knew how to talk to and connect with Kindergarteners! 

 We had a wonderful lesson on Paul Klee (pronounced Paul Clay).  He is an artist from Switzerland who specializes in cubism, which is what our Art projects are based upon!  Today we learned about who he is and some of his most famous pieces of art!  Then we used watercolor pencils to draw some designs on paper that we later added water to when finishing our pieces!

 Today's pieces were just practice for next week when we work on our final watercolor designs that will later be turned in to clay tiles!  This is going to be an amazing project and I am so excited to share it with you on our classroom blog!!!
We also had an excited assembly this afternoon to celebrate a very successful Fun Run Fundraiser!  Ms. Dechant, Mr. Hannah, and Coach Swain all go Slimed!!!  The kids LOVED this!!!

Happy Book Character Day/Fall Celebration

Friday was an incredibly exciting day for my little book characters!  They had so much fun dressing up!  The kindergarten teachers dressed up as Pete the Cat!  

Once the students saw my Pete hat, who happens to be a classroom celebrity in our room, they all wanted one too!  So, before we had our Fall Celebration I let them all make Pete the Cat hats, too!  By making the Pete hats it also made sure everyone was able to participate in Book Character Day!

 After we made our hats it was time for the Fall Celebration!  Thank you so much to Ms. Shannon and Ms. Amy (Abby's Moms) for coming and helping throw such a great celebration for our students!  Also, a special thank you to Ms. Melissa (Lydia's Mom) for bringing in a yummy and healthy fall themed treat for snack, too!  We are beyond lucky to have such wonderful Parents and all that y'all do for us!
