Arctic Animals, Birthday Parties, and Homework!

In writing we have been focusing on Informative Writing from Non-Fiction texts.  We have been focusing on Arctic Animals and my genius ttle writers know all there is to know about Penguins and Polar Bears!  Look how AMAZING our Polar Bear Bulletin-board turned out for this month!
First, we finger painted the background of the adorable Polar Bears and added glitter to make it look like ice!
I love how improved everyone's writing is getting, they are spacing in the correct places and using capital letters as well as punctuation!  I could not be more proud of them!

Other then learning all about Arctic Animals we have also been having a blast in Developmental Centers!  For the next couple of weeks in Dramatic Play, the students have been pretending to throw birthday parties for each other and it really is so fun and sweet to watch them celebrating each other!
Thank you so much, Mrs. Dechant for purchasing all of the new materials for our Dramatic Play Center!
They are just so amazing!

Also, don't forget I will be sending home homework packets starting this week.  They will usually consist of 2 pages of math work, one page of phonics/word work, and one writing page. The whole pack will be due the following Friday! You can either do 1 page each night for homework or if you need to skip a night you can do so and then do two pages the next night, whatever works best for your family! Students will get the pack on Mondays and they are expected to turn them in on Friday! When they turn their homework in on Fridays, they will get 2 pieces of Honey Money! Thank you so much for working at home with your child on the work we are teaching at school! We couldn't do it with out your help and I really appreciate everything you do at home to help reinforce what we are working on in class!

Back to the Grind...FINALLY

After a few snow days, it almost seemed like we would never come back to school!  But, luckily today was our first day back and my AMAZING students didn't skip a beat!  They are amazing and I am beyond proud of them!

We were working on composing the number 5, which means finding all the ways to make 5!  We used double sided counters and "Spilled them out of a container, then counted them, and finally recorded our answers!"

I am so proud of my little math mathematicians!

Back in Action

Sorry for the lack of posts this month, we have been extremely busy getting back in to our daily routines and finishing up 2nd Quarter Assessments!  However, this post is a quick snapshot of everything we've been up to over the past couple weeks!  I hope everyone is staying warm and having a great week!

We also have a bit of sad news, we had to say Goodbye to one of our classmates who is moving away.  However, to celebrate our friendships with him we had "Amayei Day" and made him going away cards and celebrated with cookies and juice!
We'll miss our little buddy, but we know he'll meet lots of new friends at his new school!  Good Luck, Amayei!  Your Claxton Family loves you, keep in touch!
