We had such an awesome time last Wednesday on our Field Trip to The Asheville Police Department and Asheville Fire Department! We could not have asked for a more friendly group of First Responders to help us understand how important their jobs are to our Community!
First, we stopped by the Fire Department to check out their amazing Fire Trucks and learn all about the Fire Station and the people who work there to help keep us safe!
We learned how the Jaws-of-Life helps get people out of car accidents if they have been trapped in!
The Firemen demonstrated to us what it takes to put all their gear on and how heavy it weighs. Their air tanks alone weigh as much as one of our students!!!
Then we got to take a picture with the Fireman with all his gear on so we would know to never be scared of them if we ever need to be rescued by them!
We were having such a great time at the Fire Station!
We got to walk inside the Fire Truck, too!!!
This was a really neat treat to see what an antique fire truck looked like!
After we visited the Fire Station we went next door to the Police Station!
They showed us all the different types of transportation they use to patrol the city!
Then we met Officer Nicole who showed us how they take finger prints to help solve cases! It was really neat!
She showed us how it's done by taking Sam's whole hand print off the back of her Police Truck!
After we watched how to take a whole hand print she let each student walk by and do a finger print on the back of her truck too! We are so lucky and so thankful to Officer Nicole!
Then it was time to check out a Police Car!!!
Each of the students got to sit in the front seat and even make the sirens play!!!
After exploring all through the Police Station we walked across the street to have a picnic in front of the Courthouse! It was a beautiful day outside so we played a little after our picnic in the park in front of the Courthouse!
We had an absolutely fabulous day and are so thankful to the Asheville Police and Fire Departments for all hey did to make our day so special! Also, a special thank you to everyone that was able to join us on our Field Trip!
